Learning the Organ and Practicing at All Saints'
We encourage people to learn the organ and to practice at All Saints'. The organ is a good representative sample of the English organ style, well maintained by Australian Pipe Organs.
People love learning to play the organ for many reasons. For some, it is the ability to make music on an instrument that can interpret music from the earliest manuscripts of keyboard music, through the geographically diverse manifestations of music written for the instrument through to contemporary composers. For some, it is the power of the instrument that attracts them, for others, the range of sounds that can be employed. Still others appreciate the mixture of sacred and secular music that has been composed for the instrument, while others enjoy the role the organ can play within a church service.
The Director of Music is experienced at working with beginners, both young and more mature in age, through to coaching post-tertiary organists. He prepares students for AMEB exams at all levels and for entrance exams.
Please contact the Director of Music for more information about learning the organ at All Saints' or either the Vicar or the Director of Music if you would like to talk about practicing on the organ.
