Heading "Welcome to All Saints'"An All Male Choir

Boys' voices are something special - they are transitory. For a few short years, the boys are able to sing the higher parts of the music. Once trained, these voices are at their most beautiful for a fleeting period of the boys' lives. The opportunity for them to experience this, and for parents to enjoy listening to their boys at this stage, is limited. The choir at All Saints' is the only parish church choir in Australia which offers this possibility.

Experience shows that with mixed choirs, the girls always outnumber the boys. Within an all male choir, it is easier for the boy to feel that what they are doing is normal for a male and not something for girls to do.

Having a combined boys and men's choir allows the boys to enjoy the experience of singing four-part music. This opens up the repertoire enormously compared to what can be sung by a children's choir. As well, the choristers are able to sing within a choir that is able to nurture and support them through the time that their voice changes. This helps them to feel comfortable with the change and encourages and trains them to be at home during and after this process.
