Joining the Choir

New choir members are always welcome at All Saints'.

Parents of boys who would like to join the training program are encouraged to arrange an interview with the Director of Music. Normally, boys between the ages of six and ten are accepted into the training program after a successful interview.

Did you know that the most important ability for a boy to have to begin our training program is to be able to read? We believe that any boy can be taught to sing in tune, to learn to sight-read music and to produce a good sound, particularly with the small ratios of boys to tutors that we enjoy.

Boys who have already benefited from some vocal training are invited to audition in order to join the choir immediately or to join the training program at an advanced stage. For these boys, we would be interested in how well they can sight-read, hold a part in multi-part music, and how well they work within our rehearsal process.

Men who would like to join a choir that performs music ranging from Gregorian chant, through Renaissance and Baroque to the contemporary English cathedral style are also welcome to talk to the Director of Music. Fathers do like to sing in the same choir as their sons!
