All Saints', East St. Kilda is celebrating its 150th. anniversary this year with a number of functions, culminating in November, at All Saintstide.
The first function planned for the year is a Eucharist on Sunday 20th. March, at 10 am, the Sunday after Easter, at which present and past parishioners [especially those baptised and confirmed at All Saints] will be invited to renew their baptismal promises. The Right Reverend Dr. Peter Hollingworth will preside and preach. There will be refreshments to follow in the Parish Hall.
Other special services include a Eucharistic Festival on Thursday, 22nd. May [Corpus Christi], at 7.30 pm; a Service for the Renewal of Marriage Vows on Sunday 22nd. June at 5 pm [with the Canterbury Singers], and a Mass for present and past students of St. Michael's Grammar School, on Sunday 12th. October, 10 am, at which the Chaplain of St. Michael's, Fr. Cary Mansell will preach.
On Sunday 2nd. November, at 10 am, the Archbishop of Melbourne, the Most Reverend Dr. Philip Freier will preside and preach at High Mass. Luncheon at the Melbourne Bowling Club, Union Street, Windsor will follow.
On Sunday 9th. November, Solemn Evensong and Benediction at 5 pm. The Right Reverend Dr. Peter Hollingworth will preside and preach. The service will be followed by dinner at the Melbourne Bowling Club.
The Revd. Dr. Colin Holden, and eminent church historian, has been commissioned by the parish to write a history of All Saints'. The book will be launched close the the sesquicentenary celebrations in November, at a date yet to be determined.
On Tuesday June 24th., Dr. Holden will lead a seminar, sponsored by the Institute of Spiritual Studies, at St. Peter's, Eastern Hill, at 7.30 pm., on the topic: 'A Tale of Two Parishes: All Saints', East St, Kilda and St. Peter's, Eastern Hill', in which he will examine the contrasting developments of these two significant Melbourne parishes of similar age and background. The Parish celebrations will conclude with a St. Cecilia Day Concert led by the Director of Music of All Saints', David Macfarlane, on Saturday 22nd. November.
A special meeting of the Prayer Book Society of Victoria will be held on Saturday 19th. April, at All Saints', beginning with Mass at 11 am., followed by lunch, and an address by the Archbishop. The Regional Bishop, the Right Reverend Paul White will preside at the Sacrament of Confirmation on Sunday 20th. April, at 10 am.
